I R Dork.

OMG, I made the stupidest mistake. *L*

So I called Zoo To You (the place I applied for) today to check on my progress, but no one answered so I left a message. At the end I was leaving my call-back number so they could contact me and I FORGOT MY PHONE NUMBER! I stumbled along for about 20 seconds going 'ummm...uhhhh...I can't believe I forgot my phone number...uhhhhhhh...' before I finally remembered it. OMG, how embarrassing. I hope that's not the end of me right there. *dies* I would give anything to erase that from their machine. Let's hope they have a sense of humor? Oy.

In other, less horrifying news, American Idol is totally unfair pulling me in like this (my favorites are the little boy with the big voice, long-haired bandana dude, Janice Joplin girl, and irish lady...*L* I obviously am not keeping track of names yet) and Lost, as usual, makes no sense. What else is new?

Oh! And Arizona Highways by Fialka blew me away. That's what a fic SHOULD be - fic that makes you cry, and think, and care about the secondary characters, and did I mention CRY? Yeah, like that.

The mental image of Mulder, holding Scully's dying child? Just kills me dead. KILLS ME. Guh.

At work we keep track of clients via their phone numbers. And I cannot tell you how many times a day people go "It's 479..." and then their faces go completely blank and they say, shocked, "WAIT. WHAT IS MY PHONE NUMBER? I don't remember!" and it takes another 30 seconds of studied thought (or pulling out their cellphones to look it up) before it comes to them. A handful of people can't remember it at all, and we have to alternatively look them up by their last name or their dog's name.

The excuse, that I find completely believable, is that we don't call ourselves. "I never call myself..." So the most accessible numbers in our brains are not our own, but the ones we call the most often. And when you're thinking too fast you skip over the less accessible numbers and go straight to blank. It's very common and almost everyone is incredibly embarrassed. I can only say with much honesty - don't be embarrassed. It happens a lot more often than you think. :D

*LOL* I know I'm not the only one to forget my phone number, it's just especially embarrassing because it's a potential employer! But it does make me laugh that it happens to so many people.
