Sooo, I packed up my car and brought a load down to Escondido yesterday, stayed the night, and drove back up today. On the way back, I decided to take a detour through Santa Monica and Mabilu. This served two purposes: it let me enjoy the fabulous PCH highway one last time, and hunt down David Duchovny. ;) Now, I have no clue if David is even IN Malibu at the moment, but he does live there, and has been known to frequent a certain Starbucks. I'd searched for it before without success, but this time, armed with directions from
krisnreine, I was determined.
This is that journey.
All long drives require music. It makes the endless drive through LA chipper, even in traffic.
On the way back up, SoCal shows the beauty that comes out for 2 weeks after the spring rains.
The monotony of the 405 is broken by...the Goodyear Blimp!

Santa Monica Boulevard meets up with the ocean in my rear view mirror.

Finally, the Pacific Coast Highway with its staggering views.

And soon enough, Malibu!
Following
krisnreine's instructions, I find...a shopping center. Driving around aimlessly brings me to a private gated community, so I turn around and...there it is! Starbucks! In the posh little shopping center to the stars.

Trying to appear not-a-stalker, I sit outside and take a picture of the cliffs above Malibu.

I go inside the Starbucks. A quick glance around confirms it - no DD. But of course. It's noon. Regardless, I have found it! I have been in the Starbucks where David Duchovny gets a latte, I have touched the door he probably pulled many times before heading in to the set. My inner fangirl cheers! The rest of me slinks away to my car in embarrassment. My inner fangirl laments that, alas, David Duchovny STILL will not love me.
Driving back over the hills to Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley, I stop at an overview for one last glimpse of Malibu.

The End! Really now, it was fun. What's the use of living in Southern California if you can't do a little harmless celebrity stalking? ;)
