I know it's been a while. So, I drove up to college last week and got all setup. Have been going to classes, too, but of course, they wouldn't give me internet access in my dorm room for a week. They finally set it up, and here I am! Classes have been all right. An overview:

Animal Behavior: With my advisor, whom I've had more classes with than any other teacher, and at this point we've only recycled old lectures. Bored stiff, but hoping it will improve soon. At least I've got friends in that class.

Gender in Modern Europe: I took this class because I liked the teacher when I had him before, and I need to fill credits. It's been fascinating, as expected, except for one day when we had the nature/nurture (Sex vs. Gender) debate, which I've been through many, many times over the years.

Web Site Design and Publication: Dropped this class like a ton of bricks after the first day, where we discussed what a browser is, what HTML stands for, and the evilness that is Microsoft (the schedule for the rest of the semester looked no better). I was taking it for an easy A anyway, so I don't need it. Good riddance.

Drawing: I can't draw. Thus, the need for this class. Plus it looked fun. And it has been. The second day, we got "Christmas presents": a sketchbook, Workable Fixative, and a bag full of a variety of drawing supplies, such as pen and ink, charcoal, and Prismacolors. Our assignment was to play with them. Hehe.

Wolf Research Team: Third consecutive semester of this. Basically I signed up so I could go with them to Wolf Park in October. Haven't gotten started on much of anything, yet (and glad of it).

And then there's my baby, Dog of the Week. It's technically an Independent Study, but I needed to recruit a new team for this year all by myself, and I did. I got 20 applicants and had to narrow it down to 16 after convincing my advisor I could create 2 teams instead of 1 this year with that many applicants. I've only just decided on who to accept, and now for the hard part of organizing teams, making schedules, and finding out how everyone wants to do this. I really would like to get everyone clicker training. I learned a lot about it this summer, and I've had tremendous success with it myself in the last week at the local animal shelter. Every day I've gone out to walk dogs. I've been mainly working on a big black lab named Grizz, who at first ignored me completely and just wanted to run as far and as fast as possible. All I've basically done is click for eye contact, and reward him by letting him run when he does look at me (he wasn't too food motivated). Now he looks at me consistently, asks nicely when he wants to run, and has gotten very affectionate. It's been very rewarding and very enjoyable for me.

So, now that I've all bored you all to tears...I'm looking forward to Stargate tomorrow, though I'm very sad that this is the last new episode until...who knows when...January? *sigh* I need to order Season 5 DVDs to tide me over until then. I've sunk to reading bad Sam/Jack fic. Like this one, which has the word "enigmatical" within the first few lines. The really sad part? I'm going to continue anyway.
