memento1Eck, eck, eck. The cooler broke. The huge cooler that we use to thaw out dead deer for butchering. And it had a dead deer in it. Amanda opened the door this morning, and...maggots just spilled out, and more were covering the door. We spent ALL morning cleaning it out, although Tracey, bless her heart, did most of the actual sweeping out of maggots. The deer was half rotted and filled with those nasty slithery white worms. It stank to high heaven too. I later had to clean it out again, which was hopeless by myself because as soon as I finished hosing them off the walls and mopping them away, the stragglers were climbing the walls again. And now there's maggots all over the barn. I do not want to go in there again for at least a week. Never a quiet moment at Wolf Park! *L*
In less...disquieting news, there was a thunderstorm tonight and I spent a good half hour just sitting outside watching and listening. It was absolutely perfect temperature-wise, and the air was so clean and crisp. It made me want to sleep outside, though I don't even have my sleeping bag here. Lovely night, though. Dog seminar goes all weekend, though I only get to attend Monty's BBQ tomorrow. Something to look farward to!
