Things I've written in comments lately:
Point the First: Mem's guide to buying college books:
1. Never buy books before the class starts (unless it's a summer reading or some other thing like that). Some classes they'll say on the first day you don't need the book, and others won't but as the class starts up you'll see that it's not needed or discussed at all. Ask the teacher. You'll almost never need the book on the first day anyway.
2. If you do need books, ask the teacher if you can use an earlier edition (if it's a book with multiple editions, as many textbooks are). The differences between editions are miniscule, and buying an earlier edition can save you a lot of money.
3. Buy your books on-line (I use amazon.com - usually buying used books from sellers with a high rating and lots of ratings, but even amazon's regularly priced new books are cheaper than the bookstore). Take, for instance, this book, which I don't need but am reading right now. Amazon's price is $7.99, but by clicking "98 used & new" you can get a used book for as low as $1.98. I wouldn't completely trust that first seller, as he has only 10 ratings, but the next one has 4.9 stars with 2822 ratings. That means that's a trustworthy seller, and I get my used book for $2.00 plus shipping (which would probably be $2 or $3). With good sellers, you'll have the book within the week (and you rarely have readings that first week of classes).
4. If it makes feasible sense, see if you can split the cost with a classmate and share the book. It's got to be a small, easy-to-read one for that to work, though.
Point the Second: OK, I hadn't seen any S9 episode up until last night (not by my choosing), and it really kinda felt like I was watching another Stargate spinoff, not the original show...MY show. It was like the Daniel and Vala Show...the other 2 just kinda sat there and looked menacing or bored.
Point the Third: OK, I may be a freak, but there's something nice about having company in the bathroom. *L* Like when you go to brush your teeth in the morning and all the showers are going, and it's warm and the shampoo smells are wafting all over. And the showers were BIG on my floor, and the water pressure was just perfect and it NEVER ran out of hot water. I miss those showers! *L* But again, freak.
