So, I saw OotP. And it was good. I'm always flustered by how much they have to cut out, and this one definately had a hell of a time trying to fit that ginormous book into 2 and a half hours. But there were some good performances, especially by Daniel Radcliff. When he's roiling on the floor at the Ministry of Magic there at the end...guh. Really powerful. The Weasley twins' fireworks scene was absolutely brilliant, and the Voldemort/Dumbledore showdown was equally awesome. Just for those 2 scenes it was worth it. But I felt like they cut out a lot of the fun, quirky, character-driven bits - it felt like Ron and Hermione played bit roles, which left me sad. As dark as the movie was, though, the book was twice as dark and moody, so I can't complain.

My overall impression is simply that I REALLY want to re-read the book, simply to get all that detail that they had to leave out. I actually went to the library the other day to check out a copy of The Half-Blood Prince, and they were all checked out - all 20-something copies! Hopefully OotP will be there.

Forgot to add - the animals in the movie were provided the Birds and Animals UK, the british division of the company I work for! I was just too thrilled by that.

*L* Ok, so not ALL the animals. Half of them are CGI nowadays anyway.
