1. I made an icon! For the new [livejournal.com profile] sg1podfic community.

I've been experimenting a lot recently and this was a pleasant surprise. I've been so glad to make art again. The muse is finally back and I have so many things I want to try out and explore. It's such a thrill when an icon starts to come together the way you want it!

2. While looking for iPod stock photos for the above icon, I found this:

GOLD-PLATED iPODS! $600-$800 depending on storage capactity. For the hyper-rich people on your christmas list ;)

3. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Color me happy. Oh, that scene made my little shipper heart sing. I was really wary of such a giant step in relationship resolution, but I'm actually quite happy with it. I want to see more, or read more (although I have yet to find any good CSI fic), even though I expected the ship to lose its pizazz and pull once there was effectively no more unresolved tension. But I quite like this relaxed, easy affection. I loved their identical looks of...joy and contentment. If I could just bottle up that feeling and carry it around with me, I would. So, in summary, Mem = happy shipper.

4. I finally finished Harry Potter!! And I loved it. It's been a b*tch trying to avoid spoilers (which didn't work out entirely), but I'm so glad I re-read the whole series first. It got me back into that world and that storyline and I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm really sad it's done! Anyways, just one big complaint - I really didn't need that epilogue. It was like a badfic chapter stuck onto the end. But other than that, very happy. And I was really emotionally invested this time! I cried at Sirius' death, and Dumbledore's, and almost every single major character death in book 7 (which was depressing as H*LL at times, but always managed to brighten up eventually). Surprisingly, I think Dobby's death hit me hardest this book. I really grew fond of the little guy! Oh, and while Harry/Ginny still does nothing for me, Ron/Hermione was SO adorable. I was so dorky happy when they finally kissed. And Snape! *sniff* I always knew he couldn't be pure evil, so I was really sad we didn't get to see that side of him before his death. I wanted more Snape! And more Neville and Luna and D.A. and Draco and especially more Dumbledore, but overall, I'm happy. I just want more!

1) Awesome icon! The background kinda looks like a watercolor. Very pretty. :D Good job pasting in the ipod, I thought it was a part of the original image at first!

2) Holy crap. Who needs a gold-plated ipod? *rolls eyes*

3) The marriage proposal scene was so cute. And the way Grissom asked was just so.. Grissom. And they tried to kiss but they had the beekeeper's hats on. LOL.

4) YAY you're done! I reread the series before I read Deathly Hallows too. (I'm also slowly rereading the entire series again to pick up threads of storylines from the last book in the early stories, plus viewing some things differently. I'm crazy!)

Epilogue - sucked, and I hated it. JKR also revealed a bunch of other "where are they now" tidbits of info for other characters that she was going to put in the epilogue, and I didn't like any of that either. The whole thing was just so dumb. The kids' names were all dumb and VERY fanfic-y, the whole thing was just.. like a 14 year old wrote it or something. I hated it!

Dobby's death - SO SAD. I sobbed the hardest during this part, but the whole burial was so well-written. It would be hard not to cry there. I cried a lot during this story, especially for Hedwig and Mad-Eye and Fred, but for Dobby I just had to go sob into a towel for a minute. That was really rough. Oh I also cried when Hagrid was carrying Harry's body back to Hogwarts. Even though he was alive I felt everyone else's grief. McGonagall screaming when she saw him - that made me cry to. The whole damn book made me a wreck, lol.

Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione - Agreed on both counts. That's also partly why I dislike the epilogue. Without it I could pretend that Harry realized his love for Luna and they ran off into the sunset together. Well, I still pretend that anyway, but grr at Harry/Ginny and the non-sense-making their relationship is.

Neville was so freaking amazing, Neville and Luna and the D.A. Awesome! There needs to be a whole other book about the exploits of the D.A at Hogwarts for the whole schoolyear while Harry was away. lol

Best. Comment. EVER! hehe.

1) Thank you! It really does look like a watercolor. I wish I could remember how I did it. *L* And that is the highest compliment one can get on a manip - that you can't tell it wasn't like that originally ;)

2) I know! Some people are just too rich for their own good.

3) Yay yay yay yay! I've replayed this scene about 20 times since then and I still grin like an idiot every time. Although the almost-kiss was rather silly for me. *L* But it was so totally Grissom - "and these are my insects and aren't they cool and oh, we should totally get married." *LOL*

4)(Yay!) Really?!? It took me months to read through the whole thing, I don't think I could start all over again. Although I am finding it oddly hard to get into any other book. Tell me if you find any hints or clues in previous books!

Good, we're agreed on the epilogue then. I was seriously dumb-founded when I read it. Like, did JKR get hit over the head and a 12-year-old fic writer attached her badfic to the end? *L* Unfortunately now I don't want to hear any more of JKR's elaborations. The books were good, let's just leave it at that and not mess with a good thing, eh?

*quick switch of mood* Dude, this book was depressing! I was crying every few chapters and near the end it seemed like I was a non-stop sprinkler! Like when Harry discovers he's a horcrux, even though I'd been spoiled for that ages ago, and that whole long chapter while he's walking towards his death, or any time I thought of Lupin or Tonks or Fred or Ted or Dobby. It was hard, dude. *L*

You know, I could see where Harry/Ginny was coming from this read-through (unlike before where it just seemed to come out of nowhere), but it still didn't grab me. My poor shippy brain can't think of a single good pairing for Harry. *L* Oh well.

There needs to be a whole other book about the exploits of the D.A at Hogwarts for the whole school year while Harry was away.

Yes! I would totally read that. Neville was so totally awesome cutting off Nagini's head, and my heart just ached when Harry went up to Luna's room and she had that big montage that she'd made of her dear friends. So sweet!

The proposal scene was SO cute. I was grinning alll the way through, my cheeks hurt at the end! If you're looking for fic, you could try [livejournal.com profile] geekfiction if you haven't already, there's usually good fic there :)

I'm the complete opposite on HP ship opinion though lol. I find that I'm a fandom outcast for liking H/G and despising R/H (although, I did smile at the kiss, it was well done considering how much I really really hate Ron lol)

Heeee! You are AWESOME for recommending [livejournal.com profile] geekfiction. I spent about all day yesterday squeeing around the place. ;) And knock me down with a feather, before that I had just about given up hope of EVER finding good SGR fic. Yay yay yay.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes that ship! It was getting a little lonely just squeeing with [livejournal.com profile] naushika about it. *L*

And hey, I'm all about "live and let live" with HP ship. I'm sick of all the bad-mouthing. And actually, I did like H/G much more this read-through than previous ones. I'm not against it, it just somehow never grabbed me. I haven't read a single Harry pairing that really got my shippy juices flowing - poor Harry! *L*
