I give up.

I'm at the end of my pitiful little rope. My computer is now more messed up than ever before. And the best part is that I probably caused it. At this point, Norton and Ad-Aware come back clean whenever I run them (well, not so much Ad-Aware...it's like the adware comes back every time) , but I'm still getting pop-ups (though not as many) and my internet is more screwed up than ever. It's slow, not loading properly, not acting normally. I can't move or delete e-mails from my Hotmail inbox. It does nothing when I try to press buttons to moderate at Creative, and even says I haven't typed anything when I try to post.

Add/Remove Programs doesn't list any programs that aren't supposed to be there anymore, as I either unistalled or manually deleted the ones I could find (yes, no need to reminds me that was stupid). I've cleared caches, temp folders...I literally have no clue what else to do. Tomorrow I'm calling IT, but I can just GUESS how they'll respond. What am I supposed to say? My internet isn't acting properly? I'm so, so, so sick of this. Please, if anyone has any insight, help me out. I'm feeling entirely hopeless.

Thank you very very much to [livejournal.com profile] barenakedally, [livejournal.com profile] shipperchick, and [livejournal.com profile] krisnreine who offered advice on this whole virus fiasco. Nothing thus far has helped, but your support made me feel so much better about the whole thing. It also helped talking to an IT person who was actually HELPFUL and NICE. She told me to bring in my laptop so they can examine the problems in detail, but that will take about half a day and it's too late at this point to do it until next week (when they reopen). But I have the schedule of doom on Monday, so I'm going to have to wait until Tuesday.

I'm considering downloading Firefox so I can surf until then.

The good side in all of this is that IE does kinda work. I have major issues in Hotmail and Creative, but thus far LJ has given me very few problems, so I can still read my flist and give you all meaningless, random updates on my computer *L*. Thank you for taking the time to listen. I was reading over a Social Psychology book the other day which stressed the importance of social networks and having people you can relate your problems to, so it's good for my mental health! *L* In fact, that's in large part why LiveJournal is so important and popular.

OK, enough intellectual rambling. It's the weekend, there's new Stargate tonight, and my brain needs some serious unwinding!
