Well, I'm home in Minnesota. I graduated on Saturday (Magna Cum Laud and with a Major Merit Award for my work with Dog of the Week, yay!), and came home on Sunday. All well and good. But not so much anymore. I effectively said goodbye to all my real life friends (I have a single friend here in Minnesota I still like hanging out with) for the last time, and came home to no internet and no cable TV. To top it all off, my computer crashed on my graduation day and will basically need to have Win2K installed over the smothering remains of Windows ME before I can use it. A friend graciously gave me a copied CD and a key, but I got home and the CD doesn't work. So, for now, I don't have a working computer.
Finally, the library was closed Sunday and Monday, so I didn't even have a decent book to read. I was doing pretty badly Sunday night until I discovered that even though we don't get most cable channels, we still have Bravo, and my beloved West Wing has been the only thing keeping me from going insane.
So...right now I'm at the library, where most of the books I wanted were checked out, but I've got one hour of free internet time which I'm graciously using to rant to you fine folks. *L* Sorry about this. I'm not having the best week.
Also went to the dentist (one last time before I'm dumped off my mom's insurance), and my gums hurt now. Stopped by the Humane Society to see if I could walk dogs, but you have to either be adopting or a volunteer to do that. They gave me a packet on volunteering, but you have to be able to volunteer for 6 months, and not knowing if I'll get to go to Moorpark College in August, I can't guarantee that. So I can't even hang out with shelter dogs.
Sooooo...I'm without friends (mostly), computer, internet, cable, a job, and animals to work with. This is a bad week. I do have my one good friend who stopped by last night...we'll be watching lots of movies. *L* And I need a job. I've almost resigned myself to going back to the movie theater.
In one shining bright spot, I got the best card ever from
ranee42. Ranee, you rock so, so much. I giggled like crazy reading it...the Stargate cards made me both laugh and swoon (you are so cool), your captions were the best, and I just LOVED the collage on the cover. Oh, and Jon! You fit Jon Stewart on there! *snork* I can't tell you how much I loved that card. Thank you, thank you, thank you! *mwah* I'll need to send you something cool now ;) And we still need to watch XF! I've still got DVDs and a phone.
Oh...any of you from Creative...I'm sorry, but I have no idea when I'll have a working computer and internet access again. I feel so bad...I thought this would all be much easier. Most of my forums shouldn't have much of a problem...although V might need help in Tech and Tools.
I don't have time to read my friendslist, but I'm thinking of you all and wishing I could be keeping up with you. I hope things are going well for you!

Date: 2005-06-01 05:04 pm (UTC)Hey girl!
Date: 2005-06-04 09:09 am (UTC)I'm hoping you will soon have all your technical issues resolved... maybe some time on your own is also a good thing, you can read books, take photos, cooks come gorme' meal... write a novel the old-fashioned way... write some snail mail (do people do that anymore?)...
Sending you lotsa HUGS!

Re: Hey girl!
Date: 2005-06-06 08:36 pm (UTC)Still having computer problems, though I FINALLY got the operating system reinstalled. But you're absolutely correct, I've been using the time to read books (I've forgotten the pleasure!), do some spring cleaning, and yes, even cook! *L* I'm still nowhere near gourmet, but I've taken the first step and asked my mom to show me some basic recipies ;) I'll let you knows how THAT goes! Within 2 weeks I'll be entirely on my own and then I'll have to do all my own cooking. Anyhow, perhaps I will take a chance at some snail mail! It's been a long time since I've done that.
I'm very sorry about leaving you to deal with Tech and Tools all by yourself. I planned to stop by Crative after e-mail and a quick LJ message, but the library has only alloted me an hour and I'm already half-way through. In any case, I hope you're doing well, and thank you so much again for the message. It's put a smile on my face today :D
