memento1I got my area assignment today. Next week I'll be covering Reptiles. That's a great starting assignment because it's relatively easy and we get to actually handle the animals (about the only animals we are allowed to touch right now). And I just LOVE the reptiles. We've got these 100-pound boas and an iguana and a nice little colony of Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, among other things. It's not everyone's gig, but I'm excited for it.
Classes are going well though it often feels like rehash to me. The Biology classes are rehash of all those Bio classes I took, Wildlife Education is a rehash of Public Speaking, and Wildlife Conservation...oy, both my college AND high school specifically focused on environmental issues and conservation. So I have to force myselfd to keep my mouth shut, and I've even tried to correct the teacher (he did not seem to appreciate that *L*). But on the plus side, this will be much easier for me than it will be for everyone else. Yay!
Rats making slow progress. Donna is getting very comfortable with my hands in the cage, Raja is getting much more hesitant to bite me, and I can touch and scratch both of them (though they're both still tense about it). Pictures coming soon, I promise. Despite these problems, I just love having rats. They give me little daily goals to accomplish and things to look forward to (you know, taking them OUT of the darn aquarium). My little rattie-rats!
