I still don't feel 100% about this job, but I do feel better about the whole thing after a full night's sleep. Sleep always makes problems seem more manageable. But I still don't want to think about it too much. Thus, a post about everything else that's been piling up I've been meaning to write about.

  1. A Meme! Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

  2. May I take a chance and just say "Yay Hillary!"? I was thrilled she won Texas and Ohio and will be staying in the race. Logically I know Obama is just as good, but I got emotionally involved against my better judgement and really want to see her win. End politics.

  3. I heard a few days ago that a classmate of mine from the zoo was just hired as a killer whale trainer at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (where we did a project together last year). I am very happy for him, and think he'll be wonderful at the job, but I can't help feeling a little jealous. That was my dream job as a kid and well into adulthood, but I gave up on it as a pipe-dream, so that stung a bit. But I really do wish him the best, and how awesome will it be to be able to discuss that with him?

  4. Finally, an XF press conference? THIS could be interesting. Maybe we'll finally get the official subtitle? I'm going to be waiting with bated breath all day.

  5. ChronX update! Blinded by White Light - Body and Soul )

My header disappeared. And I was rather confused until I figured out it was because the image was on Scrapbook and LJ was slowly weaning me off all rights to my Scrapbook. Long story short, I bought myself 2 more months of paid time so I can re-route the image somewhere else (and I POSSIBLY may change it. I know I haven't had this one up long, but XF has eaten my soul and I have no choice). I did, however, load in lots and lots of XF icons. Anyone know of an XF mood theme besides this one?

In other news, the interview went GREAT yesterday, so I'm hoping to hear about a second phone interview sometime this week. I so want this job...

Also, RPF scares me. Or at the least disturbs me. But hey, to each their own.

I've decided to give my own thoughts on fics as I read them on ChronX. Lucky you. ;) The Big It - Blackwood )

OMG, I made the stupidest mistake. *L*

So I called Zoo To You (the place I applied for) today to check on my progress, but no one answered so I left a message. At the end I was leaving my call-back number so they could contact me and I FORGOT MY PHONE NUMBER! I stumbled along for about 20 seconds going 'ummm...uhhhh...I can't believe I forgot my phone number...uhhhhhhh...' before I finally remembered it. OMG, how embarrassing. I hope that's not the end of me right there. *dies* I would give anything to erase that from their machine. Let's hope they have a sense of humor? Oy.

In other, less horrifying news, American Idol is totally unfair pulling me in like this (my favorites are the little boy with the big voice, long-haired bandana dude, Janice Joplin girl, and irish lady...*L* I obviously am not keeping track of names yet) and Lost, as usual, makes no sense. What else is new?

Oh! And Arizona Highways by Fialka blew me away. That's what a fic SHOULD be - fic that makes you cry, and think, and care about the secondary characters, and did I mention CRY? Yeah, like that.

Fic Spoilers? )

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] txduck!

For the queen of manipulation, I thought it only appropriate that I at least try to make a manip. I hope you like it ;)

Blank one on Aurora. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] krisnreine for the screencap. And the amazing, amazing Alluring Indiscretion by beduini for inspiration. Probably my favorite fic ever. How did I ever miss this back in the day?

Anyways, I hope you have a great day and a great year, E! You're awesome.

Guess what arrived today? My XF season 5 DVDs! I ordered them last week because I lost an icontest I felt like it. *G* I only ever had season 6 on DVD because they cost SO much, but the new slim packs are under $30, and I was having a really crappy day, so I treated myself. And now they're heeeeeere! I immediately broke it open and put on "Bad Blood" and good lord, guys, that episode is so fantastic. So in celebration, a smorgasbord of XF stuff.

[livejournal.com profile] krisnreine posted this super-awesome XF soundtrack with songs from or related to the show, and I had a few extra I thought fit, so this is my soundtrack mini-add on.

Joy To The World by Three Dog Night. Scully sings this to Mulder in "Detour", and again to William in, appropriately enough, "William".

Teotihuacan from the movie soundtrack. This is the definitive XF song for me because it plays during the credits (and because I just really, really love it).

Come and Go With Me to That Land by Bernice Johnson Reagon. This isn't the version from "The Unnatural", but it's close.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Bing Crosby. It's a month after Christmas now, but I need to watch HtGSC again. ;)

Aaaand, Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves by Cher. PMP is so next on my list to watch.

Download it here. I also cleaned up the Triangle Love Theme from Kris, so feel free to grab that as well.

And then, there's fic! I've discovered the joy of Chronicle X and have been working my way through the stories. Some of my favorites:

Syncopation by Lilla Vaughan. Sweet, sweet flickfic. Comes dangerously close to sappiness, but just works.

99 and 44/100ths Percent Done by Sarah Segretti. Probably the best casefile I've ever read. Quirky, fun, and oh-so-sweet.

Adagio by Terma99. A post-Milagro fic that just steals my heart.

Just 3 reasons why XF completely and utterly owns my soul. I also realized this week that as of November 2007, I've been a phile for 10 years. 10 years, yo! And as this movie gets closer, XF is going to start eating my life again. I have missed it.

OK, lotsa stuff to cover, first off, desktop meme!

I was so intrigued by [livejournal.com profile] naushika 's desktop I just had to join in. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a view of their desktops as well...

Forget the tags...here's my desktop. )

And for the Philes on my list...Happy Ten-Thirteen! I thought the day deserved some recognition and thus...picspam! A look back at my very first fandom.

May be a little graphic heavy ;) )

Because it still makes me grin years later, an XF music video I made a long, long time ago from X-Files bloopers.

And because no good XF tribute is complete without fic, recs for two great fics I read recently: Hundredth Day: Poetry Man, and Spectacular.

Possibly the best line ever in a fic - from Jen's post-The Cold fic "The Ramblings and Doings of an Insane and Desperate Man":

Yet still I practice for the day I triumph. I put my key or keycard onto a table then practice grabbing it in a quick and stealthy manner. I knocked over a glass of diet coke yesterday.

Ohhhh, I haven't laughed that hard in ages. Remind me to send squee-ing feedback.

And alive. A quick summary: my last update (mid-August), I was thrilled because my internet had come back up at home. Well, not so much. The very next day it went down again and I only got it back about last week. So it's been the better part of a month without internet access. I'm trying to catch back up, and start reading my flist aain. It seems like so long!

Anyways, life has been going like normal here. Ups and downs. I switched over my animals - I miss Salsa every single day, and the camels turned out to be the most miserable part of this new semester (I got in an argument with a few of my co-trainers, and now I basically have no say in the baby's training, which was the entire reason I wanted them). At least Friday (the raccoon) is adorable, and training well. I'm training her to target to a laser pointer, and she picked up on it so quickly! AND, the new crop of students started taking over cleaning duties, so for the first time in over a year I'm getting sleep! I mean real sleep. SLEEPING IN sleep. And oh, just a week of sleeping in as late as I want has been heavenly, and done wonderful things to my mood.

But enough about sleep. What's up with the fangirl in me? [livejournal.com profile] ranee42 and [livejournal.com profile] imperviousness have been my crack dealers, sending me files of fannish importance ;) I can't thank you two enough. I've been skipping between fandoms lately but West Wing has won the latest round, and I've been re-reading my favorite WW fics (pix's Crash Into Me series and Jo and Ryo's A Winning Strategy series). Shipping is good for the soul ;)

Aaaaaand, that's about it. Oh! Comedy Central is starting Scrubs reruns next week. SCRUBS!! How I missed that show. You probably won't see that much of me around once that starts up ;)
